5 Essential Football Drills Every Kid Should Know
5 essential football drills that every kid needs to know to develop their skills, coordination, and confidence on the field:
1. Dribbling Drills
Good for: Close ball control, agility, and speed development.
Drill: Set up a line of cones for the kids to dribble through using both feet. Talk about quick controlled touches, high moves, and eyes on the ball.
2. Passing and Receiving Drills
Good for: Accurate passing, first touch, and communication.
Drill: Go back and forth in groups of three or four with different moves, inside the foot, one-touch pass. Move after the pass. Use as much of the field as possible.
3. Shooting
Goal: Increase power and technique and improve accuracy
Drill: Shoot the ball at the goal from many angles and distances, focus on using the proper striking portion of the foot. If a player is looking to achieve power, use laces. To achieve accuracy use the inside of the foot.
4. Defensive (1v1)
Goal: Coach them on positioning, timing of tackles, and gaining possession of the ball.
Gym Drill: Designate a small playing space. One attacker will try to run around a defender to score. Caution them to be low, patient, and to block paths.
5. Ball Juggling
Goal: To improve their touch, balance, and confidence with the ball.
Drill: Challenge the children to keep the ball in the air for as long as possible using various parts of their bodies, such as feet, thighs, and head. This makes them familiar and confident with the ball.
P.S: These drills become the foundation of a football game, which are fun and workable for young players to practice regularly!
